The Venue

Located along Brisbane’s stunning Hamilton riverfront, Byblos has been a beloved dining destination for 16 years, known for its warm and inviting atmosphere. Recently reimagined with a modern twist, Byblos seamlessly blends Middle Eastern charm with contemporary elegance. Guests can expect a vibrant menu featuring mezze, hearty mains, and signature cocktails, all enriched by authentic Middle Eastern flavours. The newly renovated space features luxurious seating, private dining areas, and a captivating alfresco section, making it perfect for enjoying Hamilton's riverside setting.

Opportunity

As the Head Host, you’ll play a key role in shaping the guest experience, from planning reservations to greeting guests and ensuring a memorable first impression. Reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager, you will be an integral part of the leadership team, coordinating bookings and welcoming guests with charisma and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet all guests and manage reservations for optimal dining and bar service
  • Ensure VIP guests receive outstanding service, including booking confirmations and special requests
  • Review guest booking notes and brief service staff on preferences and requests
  • Monitor waitlists and communicate accurate wait times
  • Escort guests to their assigned areas and introduce them to their Waiter/Waitress
  • Maintain a clean and organised reception area
  • Assist guests requiring extra attention (e.g., families, elderly)
  • Coordinate with wait staff regarding seating arrangements and manage service flow
  • Uphold health, safety, and service standards
  • Assist with service during peak periods as needed
  • Investigate and resolve guest feedback to enhance the dining experience
  • Coach and manage other Hosts, fostering a positive team environment

 


RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Food & Beverage Supervisor
Waitstaff
Waitstaff (Fine Dining)

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant
  • Proven hosting and restaurant floor management experience
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Immaculate presentation and a confident, welcoming demeanour
  • Experience with e-booking platforms (e.g., Seven Rooms, Ivvy)
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills
